300: Battle Of Artemisia gets a title change to 300: Rise Of An Empire
For those excited about the upcoming prequel to the 2006 film 300, you can go ahead and change the title of the film on your calendar to 300: Rise Of An Empire instead of the former 300: Battle of Artemisia. There’s no official word on why the title for the film has been changed, but if I had to wager a guess it’s because the word “artemisia” isn’t the easiest word to market or spell so the studio wanted to make it easier for themselves and audiences to say and drum up sales. The new title sounds a little bland and generic, but without Gerard Butler on board I’m not sure fans of the original 300 film are even that excited for this prequel.
Directed by Noam Murro, 300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE will star: Sullivan Stapleton, Eva Green, Rodrigo Santoro, Callan Mulvey and Jack O’Connell. The film is set to open in theaters on August 2, 2013. (Deadline)
