300: Rise of an Empire reveals a red wave in the new poster.

Remember when 300 came out? The public went crazy for it as the film quickly became a favorite for young men everywhere while women ogled the  warrior’s painted abs.  Then a sort of backlash came around and the film was considered overrated.  I fear 300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE missed it’s window to have a hugely successful sequel.  It doesn’t help that they’ve moved the release date back as well. But the marketing team is gonna try their hardest as they reveal a new poster and will release a new trailer later this evening.  The poster is simple but effective looking like it could have come directly from the original 300.  Produced by Zack Snyder (who directed 300 and the recent MAN OF STEEL), the film will be directed by Noam Murro and will star Eva Green, Lena Headey, Rodrigo Santoro and Sullivan Stapleton.  It is set to release March 7th, 2014. (Warner Bros. Pictures)

300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE official synopsis:  Based on Frank Miller’s latest graphic novel Xerxes, and told in the breathtaking visual style of the blockbuster “300,” this new chapter of the epic saga takes the action to a fresh battlefield—on the sea—as Greek general Themistokles (Sulivan Stapleton) attempts to unite all of Greece by leading the charge that will change the course of the war.  300 RISE OF AN EMPIRE pits Themistokles against the massive invading Persian forces led by mortal-turned-god Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro), and Artemisia (Eva Green), vengeful commander of the Persian navy.
