Aaron Sorkin to make directorial debut with John Edwards biopic

Posted by: Brad Sturdivant

Reading this news, I can’t help but think of Aaron Sorkin’s guest spot on ‘Entourage’ where he claimed to not want to direct.  And yes, I watch ‘Entourage’ even though I know it’s one of the worst shows on television and has zero redeeming qualities.  But anyway, the point is that Aaron Sorkin will in fact be directing a film and his first project will be based on the book by Andrew Young, titled ‘The Politician: An Insider’s Account of John Edward’s Pursuit of the Presidency and the Scandal That Brought Him Down’.  It makes sense that Sorkin would choose politics for his first directorial effort after making a name for himself as a writer on ‘West Wing’.

I’m not so sure John Edwards’ story is worthy of being made into a film, but I have faith in Sorkin the writer, so I’ll give Sorkin the director a shot.  I didn’t really think a Facebook movie was necessary either, but the trailer for THE SOCIAL NETWORK looks great.  But this will all come down to casting and without the right actor in the lead role, the movie will be a failure.
