Lionsgate has announced that the 2001 romantic comedy BRIDGET JONES’S DIARY, starring Renée Zellweger, Colin Firth, Hugh Grant, Jim Broadbent and Gemma Jones, will be released on Blu-ray July 19, 2011. Directed by Sharon Maguire, the film follows a 30-something woman in Britain who is determined to improve herself while she looks for love in a year in which she keeps a personal diary. The film did garner an Academy Award nomination for best actress Renée Zellweger, and was so successful there was a sequel released three years later.
I have to admit that the first time I saw BRIDGET JONES’S DIARY I was less than impressed, however I was completely charmed upon second viewing and this will be one I’ll be adding to my personal Blu-ray collection this summer. Special features for BRIDGET JONES’S DIARY include:
- Audio commentary with Director Sharon Maguire
- The Bridget Phenomenon
- The Young and the Mateless
- Portrait of the Makeup Artist
- Behind-the-Scenes featurette
- Deleted Scenes
