After Earth starring Will Smith and Jaden Smith coming to Blu-ray in October

Weekend box office: After Earth

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced that the post-apocalyptic film AFTER EARTH (click the link to read the review), directed by M. Night Shyamalan and starring Will Smith, Jaden Smith, Sophie Okonedo, Zoe Kravitz, Glenn Morshower and Kristofer Hivju, will be available in a Blu-ray Combo Pack on October 8, 2013.

Here’s the synopsis for AFTER EARTH: A crash landing leaves teenager Kitai Raige (Jaden Smith) and his legendary father Cypher (Will Smith) stranded on Earth, 1,000 years after cataclysmic events forced humanity’s escape. With Cypher critically injured, Kitai must embark on a perilous journey to signal for help, facing uncharted terrain, evolved animal species that now rule the planet, and an unstoppable alien creature that escaped during the crash. Father and son must learn to work together and trust one another, if they want any chance of returning home.

Sadly, M. Night Shyamalan’s latest film didn’t do well at the box office, even with mega A-lister Will Smith in the lead. Things aren’t looking so great for Mr. Shyamalan these days as his last few movies haven’t been too well received. AFTER EARTH only grossed $60 million at the box office with a budget of $130 million. That’s too bad because he really isn’t that bad of a director…right? Check out the trailer for AFTER EARTH below.
