Alex Pettyfer and Channing Tatum will play male strippers in Magic Mike

What a roller coaster of a ride Alex Pettyfer’s career has been the past six months. In the late winter, Pettyfer was linked to every major role in Hollywood and directors were tripping over themselves to cast him in their movie. Then I AM NUMBER FOUR flopped, Pettyfer revealed himself to be a douche-bag and no one would get near the guy. And now? It looks like he might be on his way back to the top as he’s just been cast opposite Channing Tatum in Steven Soderbergh’s MAGIC MIKE. In the film, Pettyfer will play a young male stripper that gets mentored by the slightly older Magic Mike, to be played by Channing Tatum. The story is based on the real life exploits of Tatum and his adventures as a stripper when he was 19.
I think this casting is a bit shocking, especially since Soderbergh doesn’t seem like the type to put up with bratty actors. But if Pettyfer pulls this off, he could win over some critics while impressing the young ladies in the process.
