Alex Proyas's Paradise Lost starring Bradley Cooper has been delayed

I really thought that development on PARADISE LOST was going rather well. It was obviously a huge undertaking but it seemed to be moving along just fine until today.

Budgetary concerns have delayed any further movement on the film for now. Legendary Pictures isn’t getting rid of the film though. The $120 million price tag is the issue and in order for them to put the film back on track they need the price to come down about 10-15%. There should be no worry though. Several films with large budgets have come back to see the light of day. This just means that a compromise must come sooner rather than later if director Alex Proyas wants to start production at the beginning of the year.

The biggest money cow on the film is the green screen and VFX work that has to be put into it. If you are filming several epic battles in purgatory or in other worlds, then as a studio you are counting on using a big portion of your budget on getting those things right. If they want to kick it into gear, maybe they should tap into some of the old school ways of doing things. There was a time when we didn’t rely on computer FX. Bradley Cooper and the rest of the cast including Benjamin Walker, Diego Boneta, Camilla Belle, Dominic Purcell, Rufus Sewell, Casey Affleck and Djimon Hounsou are still on for now.
