Alice Braga joins Matt Damon and Jodie Foster in Elysium

DISTRICT 9 director Neil Blomkamp is putting a dream team together for his next science fiction film ELYSIUM. It was recently announced that he was teaming with set designer Syd Mead (who did BLADE RUNNER) and now he’s putting the finishing touches on his cast. The latest to join his next film is Alice Braga. Braga burst onto the scene with a great turn in CITY OF GOD and has had a steady turn in film since then, most recently in THE RITE. She joins a film that already includes Matt Damon, Jodie Foster, Sharlto Copley, William Fichter and Wagner Moura.

Of course, the plot of ELYSIUM has been under lock and key, but we do know that its set 100 years in the future and Damon plays an ex-con, Foster is the leader of an alien race and Moura is the villain. Blomkamp has also alluded that the film will have a social commentary to it, much like DISTRICT 9.
