It’s not that I have a personal grudge against TWILIGHT director Catherine Hardwicke, but I think even her most hardcore fans have to admit that she’s not the world’s greatest director. I know those Twi-hards are loyal to anyone that even walked on the set of one of their movies, but Hardwicke can find a way to take a sappy story and make it ridiculous. So when it was announced she was going to be making a full film of the classic tale of Little Red Riding Hood, I couldn’t help but groan. The trailer doesn’t do much to quell my fears and it looks shockingly like the TWILIGHT films, but with werewolves instead of vamps. I don’t know, maybe this will be decent, but it looks a little overly dramatic for my tastes.
The film stars Amanda Seyfried, Gary Oldman, Lukas Haas, Julie Christie, Virginia Madsen, Shiloh Fernandez and another Twilight alum, Billy Burke. RED RIDING HOOD hits theaters March 11th, 2011. Watch the trailer here.
