Amy Adams and Christoph Waltz will star in Big Eyes for director Tim Burton
BIG EYES is a project that has been brewing for quite a while. Many stars have been attached to it, most recently Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Reynolds, but funding always seemed to fall through and the film just couldn’t get going. Well, now The Weinsteins have stepped in and fans of the story can rest easy that with their involvement, the film will get made. It looks like the lucky stars will be Amy Adams and Christoph Waltz and none other than Tim Burton will be directing.
The film is based on the true story of Margaret and Walter Keane who gained notoriety in the 60′s for their paintings of big-eyed children. But their fame escalated when the true artist was called into question. For the most part, Margaret stayed in the background while Walter took credit and did the publicity. But when it came time for a divorce, Margaret wanted her money. They went to court and the judge famously gave them each a blank canvas and of course, Walter was humiliated. Burton will be directing from a script by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski (who was also the original director). (Deadline)
