Amy Adams joins Henry Cavill and Kevin Costner in Superman

While everyone was obsessing over whether Michael Shannon or Edgar Ramirez was going to play the villain role in the upcoming SUPERMAN: MAN OF STEEL, director Zack Snyder and company were busy casting the female lead, Lois Lane. It has to come as somewhat of a surprise that Amy Adams will play the iconic character. She joins a cast that already includes Henry Cavill, Kevin Costner and Diane Lane. Regarding Adams’ casting, Snyder said “There was a big, giant search for Lois…For us it was a big thing and obviously a really important role. We did a lot of auditioning but we had this meeting with Amy Adams and after that I just felt she was perfect for it.”
My only concern with the casting of Amy Adams is that she’s nine years older than Henry Cavill. I guess that’s not a huge issue, but I struggle seeing her in the role anyway and now I’m afraid the chemistry between the two isn’t going to work. One of the things wrong with SUPERMAN RETURNS was the lack of chemistry between Brandon Routh and Kate Bosworth, so Snyder needs to be careful. But then again, he has Christopher Nolan as producer, so he should be alright.
