Amy Adams, Rashida Jones and Chris Cooper join the new Muppets movie

Amy Adams, Rashida Jones and Chris Cooper have joined Jason Segel in the new Muppet movie, titled THE MUPPETS.  The film is believed to be based on Jim Henson’s original idea, which has Gonzo trying to direct a movie and then enlisting the help of his Muppet friends when things get out of hand.  Adams will play Segel’s girlfriend, Jones will play a studio executive and Cooper would be the film’s villain.  James Bobin, from the ‘Flight of the Conchords’, will be directing from a script that Jason Segel and Nicholas Stoller wrote.

One name that’s conspicuously absent from this casting news is Steve Martin.  If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times; you have to have Steve Martin in a Muppet movie.  Other than that, I’m anxious to see the Muppets back on the big screen.  We shouldn’t go so long between Muppet films.  Wakka wakka.
