Amy Adams will join Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Joaquin Phoenix in The Master

We’ve heard about the upcoming film THE MASTER from Paul Thomas Anderson for awhile now (it’s the one that is not so loosely based on Scientology) but it looks like casting is starting to kick into overdrive as Amy Adams has joined the film as has Lena Endre. THE MASTER follows Lancaster Dodd (Hoffman) who basically starts a religion and takes a protégé under his wing named Freddie Sutton (Phoenix). Adams will play Dodd’s wife Mary-Sue, a role that was originally offered to Reese Witherspoon last year but never panned out. No word on what role Lena Endre will play just yet, but we’ll let you know when we find out. Production begins in a couple of weeks so look for any wrap-up casting soon.

What a fascinating film this should be. For those not involved with Scientology, this should be a nice insight into a secretive society.

Amy Adams
