Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone look impressive in The Amazing Spider-Man trailer

A short teaser trailer for next year’s THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Martin Sheen and Rhys Ifans, has been leaked and is now available online. I don’t have it posted here because the quality is awful and the studio will make me take it down by the end of the day, so we’ll just skip that step altogether. With that said, I’m going to tell you what I think about it and if you so choose you can go searching for the trailer on your own.
So first thoughts? After about thirty seconds in I had this eerie feeling like I had already seen this film before. That’s because I did, back in 2002 when it was Tobey Maguire playing Peter Parker. It’s not like you can deviate from the origin of Spider-Man, but you can make it a little different, right? In this short clip we see Peter get bit by the radioactive spider and “go through his changes” which resemble the prior film quite a bit. The only bright side, in my opinion, was the little blurb of information we get about Parker’s parents, hopefully they’ll give us more of that in the movie. We also see a little glimpse of Emma Stone and Peter’s aunt and uncle. What was missing was a shot of the film’s villain. Really this is just to get you ready to accept Andrew Garfield as a superhero, which was tough because the quality of this trailer is pretty terrible.
Look for the “official” teaser trailer to be released in the next couple of weeks. THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN is directed by Marc Webb and will be released in 3D on July 3, 2012.
