Angelina Jolie set to direct the WWII film Unbroken
It appears the directing bug has taken hold of A-lister Angelina Jolie as it’s been announced she will direct the upcoming WWII film UNBROKEN. This was a project that was going to be helmed by Francis Lawrence, but he’s going to be a little busy with a little franchise called THE HUNGER GAMES for the next three years. So Angelina Jolie has stepped up and beaten out several other directors and will take on the film which is an adaptation of the book “Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience and Redemption” by Laura Hillenbrand. UNBROKEN will follow the story of Louis Zamperini, a former Olympian who was a Japanese POW during WWII. During his time captured he endured medical experiments, brutal beatings and other tortures and was the target of one particularly evil guard. After his release he suffered from horrible nightmares, alcoholism and was on the verge of losing it all until he found God and the strength to forgive his captors and traveled to Japan to forgive them in person. No word on who will play Zamperini, but keep an eye out for more news regarding UNBROKEN in the next couple of months.
Angelina Jolie can be seen next in MALEFICENT as she takes on the title character, then you can hear her vocals in KUNG FU PANDA 3 and see her in the sequel SALT 2. (Deadline)
