Another installment of Paranormal Activity is likely to be on the way

While I am a fan of more traditional horror, I did mention before that the first PARANORMAL ACTIVITY was a fun experience in the theater. I wasn’t as thrilled by the sequel because it just didn’t do anything for me. Plus, anytime a horror film uses babies I get sort of put off. I have yet to see the third installment of the franchise but from what I hear it’s actually quite good. The entire thing was filmed with a handheld camera. Remember those? Those were the ones that took the VHS tapes and it was mandatory to have one at every family event.
So what would you think of the studio already planning a PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 4? I’d say it sounds about right. The film became the highest-grossing opening weekend for a horror film ever and the biggest opener in October. I didn’t realize that many people wanted to see it. Don Harris, head of Paramount’s distribution said, “I can’t imagine that we wouldn’t make a number four, and I imagine Adam Goodman (Paramount Film Group president) this morning is thinking about the challenge.”
Good question: How do you keep up with the scares for another one? The third film got the background on the sisters and why they were being haunted. So do they trace the origin of those spirits back? I would hope not. I guess we will see in the coming year if any progress is made.
