Anthony Hopkins and Alice Braga bringing The Rite to Blu-ray

Warner Home Video has announced that the supernatural drama THE RITE, starring Anthony Hopkins, Alice Braga, Rutger Hauer and Colin O’Donoghue, will be available on Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD, On Demand and for Download 5/17. The film follows a seminary student who travels to Italy to apprentice under an expert exorcist. The film opened in theaters on January 28, 2011 and received pretty decent reviews, especially praising Hopkins’ performance although it only grossed around $33 million dollars at the box office.

For those that tend towards these supernatural horror films with religious undertones, this is probably right up your alley. I’d like to know what caused the spike in exorcism based films these last couple of years, I’m sure any horror fan can tell me that none of them even come close to comparing with THE EXORCIST. When you have a film that is so revered and great in its genre, should you even try to compete? Just curious what you peeps out there think. Special features include:
