Are Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart doing reshoots for Twilight: Eclipse?

A few days ago, the news broke that Catherine Hardwicke and Chris Weitz were being called in to oversee reshoots on the upcoming TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE. The news seemed strange to me since Summit had more or less been displeased with both Hardwicke and Weitz’s directing jobs on the first two films. Typically, it wouldn’t make sense to bring in a former director, but in cases like this, the studio would bring in a seasoned, talented director to offer advice/help to the current director (David Slade). Within 24 hours of the story breaking, Summit Entertainment released a statement saying “the shoot has been planned for months, the picture is not in ‘trouble’ and, in fact, the studio thinks it may be the best of the three so far.” So according to Summit, these are “pick-up shots” (i.e. they were planned early in the production phase) and not “reshoots” (i.e. they found a problem and had to fix it).
However, there are unsubstantiated reports that Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart (among others and no, nothing about Taylor Lautner) are returning to Vancouver to reshoot some scenes in the film. I’m not going to site any of them because none of them have given any reliable sources and the “an anonymous source” or “someone close to me” are not sources, just excuses to make things up. The point is to say that there are problems with the film ranging from minor inconsistencies to all out failures. There are many reasons a director would call for reshoots and some of them are actually planned to coincide with the weather or something like that. So we’ll have to wait and see on June 30th if the finished product is to everyone’s liking. Oh, and check out our predictions on the careers of the various Twilight stars.
