Beautiful Creatures starring Alice Englert and Emmy Rossum coming to Blu-ray in May

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has announced that the Young Adult novel adaptation BEAUTIFUL CREATURES, from writer/director Richard LaGravenese and starring Alice Englert, Alden Ehrenreich, Emma Thompson, Jeremy Irons, Emmy Rossum and Viola Davis, will be available in a Blu-ray/DVD/UltraViiolet combo pack on May 21st, 2013.
BEAUTIFUL CREATURES is based on the novel by Kami Garcia and follows Lena Duchannes (Alice Englert), a teenager who arrives in a small town and catches the eye of Ethan Wate (Alden Ehrenreich). As the two get to know each other Ethan discovers that Lena possesses strange powers that have kept her at a distance from others. The young couple’s budding romance is threatened as Lena’s family comes into play to force her to decide to use her powers for either good or evil. It feels like BEAUTIFUL CREATURES just hit theaters (which it did on February 15th), so it’s amazing that it already has a Blu-ray release. Sadly in the age where YA novel adaptations tend to do rather well at the box office, BEAUTIFUL CREATURES flopped only bringing in over $19 million. That doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a bad movie, but it sure doesn’t look good for other aspiring YA authors who want their books optioned.
