Ben Affleck casts himself in his upcoming political thriller, Argo

There’s no denying Ben Affleck’s skills behind the camera. He’s only done two major features, GONE BABY GONE and THE TOWN, but they show a promise for what’s to come.
Affleck’s next film, ARGO is already sounding like something great. The plot centers on, “a CIA agent who concocts a story about a Hollywood production in an attempt to extract six Americans from Tehran.” John Goodman and Alan Arkin are currently in negotiations to co-star in the film.
In addition to directing and casting the project, it seems that Affleck has cast himself in the lead as the CIA agent. It was decided by the actor before he gave himself the lead role that the cast would live together in a safe house for a month prior to pre-production. This is being done to, “to re-create the claustrophobic and tense conditions of the six American diplomats inside the U.S. embassy during the Islamic revolution.”
