Ben Stiller and Justin Theroux working on Zoolander 2

Posted by: Brad Sturdivant

When ZOOLANDER first came out, I was a huge fan.  I was that guy that was doing “Blue Steel” for months after the movie came out.  To this day, I can pop it in the DVD player and laugh out loud several times.  With that said, I’m a little surprised they’re moving forward with a sequel.  It’s not that it doesn’t deserve one (because it does), I just don’t get the feeling that it still has an audience.  But Ben Stiller and writer Justin Theroux (TROPIC THUNDER, IRON MAN 2) are working on a script right now that sets our favorite male model 10 years from the events of the first one as he and Hansel (Owen Wilson) are trying to make a comeback in the fashion industry.

That implies that Owen Wilson is on board, but what about Will Ferrell’s Mugatu?  Stiller said that he wants Ferrell back, but Ferrell hasn’t committed one way or the other.  He went on to say that the reason we haven’t seen a sequel sooner is that he didn’t know how to continue the story after the character’s creator (Drake Sather) passed away.  But it looks like ZOOLANDER 2 is going to happen.  Is it too late?
