Bill Murray is a charming Franklin D. Roosevelt in the new trailer for Hyde Park on Hudson
Did you ever think you would see one of the greatest comedians of our time (I do mean Mr. Bill Murray) portray one of the greatest presidents in America history? Me neither, but after watching Bill Murray as Franklin D. Roosevelt in this new trailer for HYDE PARK ON HUDSON, I totally think he can pull it off. I’m not sure how well HYDE PARK ON HUDSON will do at the box office, but the Academy loves roles like this so we may hear some Oscar buzz about Bill Murray this season, after all the film is coming out at just the right time.
HYDE PARK ON HUDSON follows the love affair between Franklin D. Roosevelt (Bill Murray) and his distant cousin Margaret Stuckley (Laura Linney). The story will focus on a weekend in 1939 when the King and Queen of England (played by Samuel West and Olivia Colman) visited the president in upstate New York. Directed by Roger Michell, HYDE PARK ON HUDSON is set to hit theaters on December 7, 2012.
I’m very intrigued by HYDE PARK ON HUDSON and not only because Bill Murray will be the lead, but also because this really was a fascinating time in history. This film will be not only giving us a glimpse at FDR’s romantic life (which would be considered scandalous right now), but this is also the time when he was deciding whether or not to enter the war and become allies with Britain. I love watching movies that involve such major parts of history, but when you can add in some good actors that makes it that much better. Hopefully Bill Murray will be able to channel just the right amount of drama and comedy to make HYDE PARK ON HUDSON a success at the box office this holiday season.
