Brad Pitt and Cogan's Trade get a distributor

I don’t think Brad Pitt, director Andrew Dominik or really anyone attached to this mobster comedy was worried that COGAN’S TRADE wasn’t going to get anyone to distribute their film, but just in case they were concerned they need not be anymore. The Weinstein Company has officially acquire domestic distribution rights to the film, which is Domink’s second film after 2007’S THE ASSASSINATION OF JESSE JAMES BY THE COWARD ROBERT FORD. Harvey Weinstein supported that effort and has agreed to support COGAN’S TRADE by setting aside around $20 million for promotions and advertising alone. I really doubt that any Brad Pitt film needs that much money set aside for advertising, but it’s definitely a nice back-up.
COGAN’S TRADE will star: Brad Pitt, Sam Rockwell and most likely Casey Affleck. Rumored but still unconfirmed are Bill Murray, Mark Ruffalo and Javier Bardem. The film will open sometime in 2012 and is set to start shooting in New Orleans this coming March.
