Brad Pitt and Denzel Washington might star in Candy Store for Stephen Gaghan
How great would it be for Brad Pitt and Denzel Washington to star in a gritty crime thriller from Stephen Gaghan? Well, perhaps it’s a blessing in disguise that we don’t know too much more about the project, other than it’s called CANDY STORE, because this is very, very early in the development phase. But even if we had a full blown synopsis, I’d be hesitant to get too excited, mainly because Brad Pitt seemingly attaches himself to just about every project in Hollywood and nothing is official with him until he signs on the dotted line. Denzel Washington on the other hand is usually pretty good about only looking at projects he intends to star in, so it’s a good bet that at least one half of this duo could star in the film.
As for Stephen Gaghan, the writer-director hasn’t been very busy lately. His last directorial effort was 2005’s SYRIANA, which garnered George Clooney a supporting actor Oscar win. He hasn’t been very busy on the writing front either. He helped out M. Night Shyamalan on his AFTER EARTH, but hasn’t written a full feature since SYRIANA. He does have a couple of projects lined up, so it’s unclear if CANDY STORE will be his next. (THR)
