Bradley Cooper in the first look at Clint Eastwood’s American Sniper
With the Oscar buzz starting to heat up for certain films, Clint Eastwood’s AMERICAN SNIPER hasn’t gotten much of a whisper. That’s mainly because we haven’t seen anything from the film until today and unfortunately, a couple of stills aren’t going to get too much going in terms of publicity. But it’s a nice start and usually a few stills are a precursor to a trailer, which we’ll hopefully get in a few days. The project has been something of a labor of love for Bradley Cooper, who was intent on telling the story of American sniper Chris Kyle. At one time Steven Spielberg was set to direct, but when he bailed, Clint Eastwood jumped in. AMERICAN SNIPER stars Bradley Cooper, Sienna Miller, Luke Grimes, Jake McDorman and Kyle Garner. The Clint Eastwood directed film hits theaters on December 25th in a limited release and January 16th everywhere.
We don’t have an official synopsis for the film, but the official Amazon.com synopsis for Chris Kyle’s book is: He is the deadliest American sniper ever, called “the devil” by the enemies he hunted and “the legend” by his Navy SEAL brothers . . .From 1999 to 2009, U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle recorded the most career sniper kills in United States military history. The Pentagon has officially confirmed more than 150 of Kyle’s kills (the previous American record was 109), but it has declined to verify the astonishing total number for this book. Iraqi insurgents feared him so much they placed a bounty on his head. Kyle earned legendary status among his fellow U.S. warriors, whom he protected with deadly accuracy from rooftops and stealth positions. Gripping and unforgettable, Kyle’s masterful account of his extraordinary battlefield experiences ranks as one of the great war memoirs of all time.
