Bradley Cooper wants a part in Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby

It’s hard for people to identify with movie stars most of the time, but when we hear that actors and actresses are trying to get roles in films they are not up for, it makes them seem a little more like real people (just a little). Bradley Cooper wants a part in Baz Luhrmann’s upcoming film THE GREAT GATSBY, and since he’s not going after the parts that Leonardo DiCaprio or Tobey Maguire are apparently up for, I’d say he has a decent shot. Cooper wants to take on the character of Tom Buchanan, who is the alcoholic, racist and cheating husband to Daisy Buchanan (which will be played by Carey Mulligan). Since I don’t really remember a lot about The Great Gatsby, I’m not sure how major his character is, but I know I’d like to see Bradley Cooper in the part. However, even though Cooper has expressed interest in the character, he knows there’s a very good chance he may not get it. He says,“I don’t even know if I’m on Lurhmann’s radar. Maybe he’ll read this article after the role’s cast and say, ‘Oh. Ha. Yeah, that guy was never going to get it.’” You need to think more positively Mr. Cooper, Baz Luhrmann may Google himself everyday (although I doubt it).
Production for THE GREAT GATSBY is set to start shooting this summer, but since Mr. Luhrmann is a perfectionist with his films, this is subject to change.
