Bryce Dallas Howard joins Emma Stone and Viola Davis in The Help

I’m a huge fan of Bryce Dallas Howard, but she doesn’t make it easy to like her. She chooses odd roles (what is she doing in TWILIGHT SAGA: ECLIPSE?), but when she gets a good role, she does great with it. She has just signed on to the adaptation of Kathryn Stockett’s novel THE HELP. The film, to be directed by Tate Taylor, is about a young journalist (Emma Stone) that returns home to write a book about the way slaves are treated in Mississippi before the Civil Rights movement. Viola Davis will play one of the slaves telling her story and Howard will play an obnoxious woman that mistreats her slaves.
I’ve heard good things about the book and it looks like Taylor has assembled a good cast, so this one should be pretty decent. It has that Oscar-y feel to it, so let’s hope Howard and Davis can turn in some great performances.
