I’ll I can say is, it’s about freaking time they brought ALMOST FAMOUS to Blu-ray. The arguably best Cameron Crowe film of all time, ALMOST FAMOUS, will be available on Blu-ray as a Best Buy exclusive on January 30th, 2011. Yes, that’s a Sunday and that’s weird but just go with it. The film will be the “bootleg cut” version which runs 162 minutes (awesome!) and has a bunch of special features. In case you missed it (shameful), ALMOST FAMOUS follows a teenager (Patrick Fugit) who has the opportunity to tour with a band and write an article about them for Rolling Stone Magazine. The film follows his many adventures that can only happen in the music industry.
The film also starred: Kate Hudson, Billy Crudup, Frances McDormand, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Zooey Deschanel, Anna Paquin, Jimmy Fallon and Jason Lee. Don’t walk, run and pick up this Blu-ray because who knows how long (if ever) they release it anywhere else. Special features include:
- Audio commentary with Cameron Crowe and Alice Crowe
- Audio introduction by Crowe
- Featurette: The Making of Almost Famous
- Interview with the real Lester Bangs
- Cameron Crowe’s Top Albums of 1973
- Music video: “Fever Dog”
- Stillwater’s Cleveland Concert
- “Small Time Blues”
- Stairway
- “B-Sides” behind-the-scenes footage
