Carey Mulligan and Jodie Foster looking to star in Stoker

Posted by: Brad Sturdivant

Prison Break’s Wentworth Miller has written a script that Fox Searchlight is moving forward with Carey Mulligan and Jodie Foster attached to star.  I have to admit that I never thought I’d write that sentence.  I thought ‘Prison Break’ was a horrible, horrible TV show, most notably because of the bad acting.  But maybe Wentworth Miller is a better writer than he is an actor.  The film is called STOKER and it tells the story of a quirky teenager that suffers through the death of her father, only to have her estranged uncle show up to help the family through the grieving process.  Mulligan would play the teenager while Foster would play her mother.

The basic storyline sounds a little familiar and there’s only so much you can do with an unfit parental figure stepping in after a tragedy.  But I’ve always been a fan of Jodie Foster and Mulligan seems to have some acting talent, so maybe they’ll make it work.
