Cate Blanchett, Alec Baldwin and Louis C.K. star in the first Blue Jasmine trailer
I never try to defend Woody Allen, mainly because I’m not his biggest fan. For every good movie he has, he’s made at least five bad movies. But when he does get it right, he usually does it in a big way, so there’s always reason to have hope with his next endeavor. And that endeavor for 2013 is BLUE JASMINE. The story follows a woman (Cate Blanchett) that loses everything and is forced to move in with her sister (Sally Hawkins). Of course, the two have a very strained relationship and the sister’s friends start to come to her defense when they suspect the other is just using her.
The trailer is actually pretty decent and with a great cast, it gives me hope that this might be one of Woody Allen’s successes. If this trailer is any indication, it looks like Cate Blanchett is going to turn in an amazing performance, going from snobby rich wife to a down and out drunk. I think sometimes we take her acting talent for granted. BLUE JASMINE stars Cate Blanchett, Alec Baldwin, Louis C.K., Bobby Cannavale, Andrew Dice Clay, Sally Hawkins, Peter Sarsgaard and Michael Stuhlbarg. The Woody Allen directed film hits theaters on July 26th.
