Catherine Zeta-Jones joins Blake Lively and Channing Tatum in Side Effects for Steven Soderbergh
It’s a bit of good news and bad news today for Steven Soderbergh’s SIDE EFFECTS. The filmed gained yet another big name star in the form of Catherine Zeta-Jones, but lost one of its financiers Annapura Pictures. Rumor around the net has it that Annapura was not happy with the casting of Blake Lively as the film’s star. A replacement backer is expected to come on board soon, but questions still remain as to whether or not Lively will still be the lead. It would be odd for Soderbergh to change anything for a studio or an investor, especially after such a public spat, but it’s hard to make a movie without money.
The film about a woman dealing with her husband’s eventual release from prison by taking prescription meds also stars Jude Law and Channing Tatum. Zeta-Jones will play a fellow doctor (alongside Law) that treats Lively while Tatum will play the husband. Shooting is already set to begin in April.
