Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill are set for a 21 Jump Street sequel in 2014
A sequel to the hilarious comedy 21 JUMP STREET has been implied even before the original hit theaters. In fact, the end scene basically set up the sequel, implying that our hero cops, Jenko and Schmidt (Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill) would be headed to college to continue their undercover ways. Today, Sony officially announced at CinemaCon that a sequel is coming in 2014. We don’t have any details yet, but if they go with the college angle, then they open up a whole new door for comedy. I’m just not sure what they’re going to do for character development. But the original was one of the best comedies in years, so I’m excited to see what they do with the sequel.
The original film starred Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum, Ice Cube, Brie Larson, Dave Franco and a cameo from almost all of the original stars, including Johnny Depp. For obvious reasons, it’s not likely that Depp would return. We’re also not sure if Chris Miller and Phil Lord will be returning for directing duties, but since the film is scheduled to hit in 2014 (probably in the early summer), we should start hearing more concrete news soon.
