Channing Tatum could take on the lead for Steven Soderbergh's The Man from U.N.C.L.E.

Is it just me or is Channing Tatum getting a lot of work lately? Not that I have a problem with that. He’s a pretty entertaining guy. But he’s entertaining in certain types of movies with certain directors. I know that he is already working with Steven Soderbergh on MAGIC MIKE and I wonder how that’s going to turn out. Soderbergh is a great director but a movie about male strippers that isn’t THE FULLY MONTY makes me worry. That was a comedy, this is a drama unless I misunderstood the plot.

Soderbergh must really like Tatum since he is considering the actor for the role meant for Clooney in THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E.. Clooney had to drop out due to a planned surgery and wouldn’t be able to do any stunts. If Tatum takes the role, who will take the sidekick role? Who will Soderbergh pull out of his bag of tricks?

I liked the idea of having Alexander Skarsgard as the other lead. Something like BATTLESHIP is not going to take Skarsgard’s career any further. Soderbergh will decide soon enough.
