Call me crazy, but WHITE HOUSE DOWN looks fun. This new 4 minute long trailer gives us more of the plot, even though I think we all got the gist from the 1 minute trailer. But basically we get DIE HARD with a little bit of LETHAL WEAPON in the White House. The film is trying to do whatever it can to distance itself from OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN. The best thing it has going for it from its predecessor is Channing Tatum, who seems to be doing a slightly mature version of his 21 JUMP STREET character, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It seems he and Jamie Foxx have a good back and forth, which will definitely help the film. We all know how the movie will end, so this one is all about the journey. The trailer is long and starts out a little slow, but things pick up around the 3 minute mark, so stick with it. Check it out below, complete with all the one liners you can stomach. The Roland Emmerich (INDEPENDENCE DAY, THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW, 2012) directed film opens everywhere on June 28th.
WHITE HOUSE DOWN synopsis: After losing out on his dream job of protecting the President of the Unites States, Secret Service agent John Cole (Channing Tatum) takes his daughter on a tour of the White House. While on that tour, Cale finds himself confronting an unthinkable terrorist act. A heavily armed military group has seized control of the White House and taken President James Sawyer (Jamie Foxx) hostage. With all of the other agents dead and America’s government falling into turmoil, it’s up to Cale to save his country, his President and his little girl before time runs out.
