Channing Tatum and Jamie Foxx save America in the new White House Down trailer

Channing Tatum in White House Down

I’m not really sure when it happened, but somewhere along the way I started to really like Channing Tatum.  Maybe it was 21 JUMP STREET or maybe HAYWIRE, but somehow he went from annoyingly stiff to surprisingly charming and funny.  The new WHITE HOUSE DOWN trailer feels more like a Lethal Weapon film, but somehow it works, mainly because of Channing Tatum.  I found myself amused with this new trailer and I think this just jumped up on my list of anticipated movies of the summer, despite all common sense telling me it shouldn’t.

WHITE HOUSE DOWN stars Channing Tatum, Jamie Foxx, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Jason Clarke, Joey King, James Woods, Richard Jenkins, Rachelle Lefevre and Jimmi Simpson.  The Roland Emmerich (THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW, 2012) directed film opens everywhere on June 28th.

WHITE HOUSE DOWN synopsis: After losing out on his dream job of protecting the President of the Unites States, Secret Service agent John Cole (Channing Tatum) takes his daughter on a tour of the White House.  While on that tour, Cale finds himself confronting an unthinkable terrorist act.  A heavily armed military group has seized control of the White House and taken President James Sawyer (Jamie Foxx) hostage.  With all of the other agents dead and America’s government falling into turmoil, it’s up to Cale to save his country, his President and his little girl before time runs out.
