Channing Tatum Joining Dennis Quaid and Ewan McGregor in Steven Soderbergh's Knockout

Hollywood’s “it” boy, Channing Tatum has landed himself another high-profile gig, this time starring in Steven Soderbergh’s upcoming spy thriller KNOCKOUT.  The film, which actually stars Gina Carano in the lead role, is about a black ops spy that gets betrayed.  Carano is actually a mixed martial artist and not an actress, so it looks like Soderbergh s trying what he did with Sasha Grey in THE GIRLFRIEND EXPERIENCE.  The film will start shooting in February for a release later this year.  Michael Douglas and Michael Fassbender have also joined the cast, with Antonio Banderas in talks as well.

I have a lot of respect for Soderbergh’s “anti-system” way of making movies, but we’ve had so many spy-betrayal-movies over the past several years that I wish he would have taken a different route with it.  Is every spy betrayed at some point in their career?  Surely there are spies that do their jobs and collect regular paychecks like everyone else.
