Channing Tatum to star in What's Left of Us

Posted by: Brad Sturdivant

I had been defending Channing Tatum to all of his naysayers that said he didn’t have much of an acting range.  My argument was that he’d never really had the chance to show his range and was limited by the scripts.  Then I saw DEAR JOHN and realized that maybe his critics were right.  But I can’t say I’m surprised by his decision to play a heroin addict in the upcoming film WHAT’S LEFT OF US.  In it, he’ll play an addict going through a painful 7-day detox program.  The film was written by Richie Farrell, who also wrote the book by the same name and was responsible for the HBO documentary ‘High On Crack Street’.

I actually still like Tatum, but I don’t know if he’s ready to play a heroin addict just yet.  But this will at least be a good opportunity for him to prove he’s more than just another pretty Hollywood face.
