Channing Tatum's stripper film Magic Mike may be heading to Broadway
In a bit of news that really isn’t too surprising, it’s been reported that the upcoming male stripper film based on Channing Tatum‘s days before he hit it big entitled MAGIC MIKE, will probably be heading to Broadway as a musical production. That’s pretty impressive since the film hasn’t even opened in theaters yet, but apparently the buzz has been so intense that the powers-that-be want to keep the party going. According to the screenwriter Reid Carolin, “We are working on it as a Broadway show, which would be a different story, more of a romp, more of a fun night out at a club with a story. I’m almost more excited about that than the movie because I think it’s the perfect thing for women to go see on Broadway, to be participants in the show.” Not gonna lie, that does sound like a perfect fit for Broadway and I would totally go see that show. It’ll be interesting to see how this pans out, but until then we’ll just have to make do with watching the film which opens up this Friday, June 29th, 2012.
MAGIC MIKE stars: Channing Tatum, Alex Pettyfer, Matthew McConaughey, Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, Gabriel Iglesias, Riley Keough, Olivia Munn and Cody Horn. It’s being directed by the awesome Steven Soderbergh. (THR)
