Hot on the heals of signing on for the lead in Guillermo Del Toro’s THE PACIFIC RIM, Charlie Hunnam is ready to assault audiences with a slew of upcoming films. You’ve probably seen the banner ads for his film THE LEDGE, which is available on The Sundance channel and he also has BLACKBIRD on the way. The film features a great, if not random, cast that includes Hunnam, Eric Banna, Olivia Wilde, Kate Mara, Sissy Spacek, Kris Kristofferson and Treat Williams. Bana and Wilde play a brother and sister team of thieves that run into a variety of characters including a boxer (Hunnam) and his eccentric parents (Spacek and Kristofferson) after pulling off a violent heist in north Michigan. The very basic premise doesn’t get teh pulse pounding, but the cast certainly does.
The film is directed by Stefan Ruzowitzky, who also directed the foreign film THE COUNTERFEITERS, which won the 2008 Best Foreign Language Oscar. BLACKBIRD hits theaters in 2012.
