Chloe Moretz is Emily The Strange

Chloe Moretz, who achieved “it-girl” status after portraying “Hit-Girl” in KICK-ASS, is set to take on another project, this time as the lead in the upcoming live-action telling of the comic book EMILY THE STRANGE.  If you don’t know who or what Emily The Strange is, don’t feel bad.  The character was actually created by Cosmic Debris to sell clothes, but eventually amassed enough of a following to inspire a series of Dark Horse comics and now, a feature film.  So that’s a pretty good climb up the ladder for a character that originally only appeared on stickers and posters that were passed out to record stores and skate shops.

The project has been in work for a while, but was never able to get off the ground.  Creator Rob Reger seems to be a fan of Chloe’s, saying she “really understands the character”.  I’m not sure how much understanding is needed for a character developed to sell clothes, but apparently Chloe has it.
