Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr. and Scarlett Johansson in new character posters for The Avengers
If you watched the last trailer for THE AVENGERS and you didn’t get excited, then I’m not sure there’s any hope that the Marvel marketing team is going to be able to get you pumped for the superhero ensemble film. But they’re going to keep trying and their latest effort features all of our favorite heroes in similar poses that we’ve seen before. But thank goodness they fixed Chris Evans as Captain America and didn’t have him disproportionate like they did on the last poster. Otherwise, I think most of these are taken directly from the final one-sheet, but wow, what a difference the new pic of Captain America makes. But I still say Robert Downey Jr.’s hand looks unusually big in that character poster of Iron Man.
The official synopsis from the film is: “Marvel’s The Avengers is the superhero team up of a lifetime. When an unexpected enemy emerges that threatens global safety and security, Nick Fury, Director of the international peacekeeping agency known as SHIELD, finds himself in need of a team to pull the world back from the brink of disaster. Spanning the globe, a daring recruitment effort begins.” Of course, don’t forget that the film should set the stage for sequels to THOR, IRON MAN and CAPTAIN AMERICA as well, with hints dropping yesterday that Iron Man might be facing nanobots in IRON MAN 3.
THE AVENGERS stars Chris Evans (Captain America), Mark Ruffalo (The Hulk), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) and Stellan Skarsgard (Erik Selvig). The Joss Whedon directed film hits theaters on May 4th, 2012. Oh, and tickets for THE AVENGERS went on sale yesterday for midnight showings, with many cities already selling out. So if you haven’t tried yet, you might want to get a jump on those tickets.
