Chris Evans will star in Captain America sequel on April 4, 2014
We knew it was coming and it’s now been confirmed that Chris Evans will reprise his role as Steve Rogers/Captain America in a sequel to CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER. The sequel has been scheduled to hit theaters on April 4, 2014. We don’t currently know anything about the plot except that it will pick up after THE AVENGERS film (which comes out May 4, 2012) and will have Captain America (Chris Evans) deal with the modern world and S.H.I.E.L.D. That means there’s a pretty good chance that we’ll see some Avenger cameos and most definitely Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, because he has to have his fingers in all these movies.
We also don’t know who will be directing Chris Evans in the upcoming sequel, but here are a few names that have been thrown out there thus far: George Nolfi (THE ADJUSTMENT BUREAU), Joe and Anthony Russo (WELCOME TO COLLINWOOD) and F. Gary Gray (THE ITALIAN JOB). Chris Evans and whoever else will probably start shooting sometime next year, which gives him a few months to do a project that doesn’t require him to suit up in red, white and blue. Should we start guessing as to how many films Chris Evans will appear in as Captain America? My guess is five total but that may be way under what Marvel has in mind.
Once again, you can see THE AVENGERS which stars: Chris Evans (Captain America), Mark Ruffalo (The Hulk), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) and Stellan Skarsgard (Erik Selvig). The Joss Whedon directed film hits theaters on May 4th, 2012. Tickets are up for presale, but if you haven’t gotten them yet you might as well wait and buy them at the ticket counter.
