Chris Hemsworth might do the Snow White sequel without Kristen Stewart

Chris Hemsworth in Snow White and the Huntsman

As much as I want to attribute this news to Kristen Stewart’s very public and very embarrassing scandal where she cheated on Robert Pattinson with her SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN director Rupert Sanders, the truth is that Universal has always said they might move the sequels forward by focusing on Chris Hemsworth’s Huntsman character and not Snow White.  So it should come as no surprise today that Universal is slowing down the planned Snow White sequel while they regroup and decide where they want to take the franchise.  As reported earlier, after SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN raked in over $56 million in its opening weekend, Universal set the wheels in motion to make a sequel.  At the time, it was believed that the big three of  Chris Hemsworth, Kristen Stewart and director Rupert Sanders would all be returning.  But now it seems that Kristen Stewart might be the odd woman out while the series could focus on Chris Hemsworth in more of a spinoff type role.  No final decision has been made at this point, but it’s believed Universal is eager to keep the franchise going and I would assume they’ll finalize the story soon.

As for Kristen Stewart, it will be interesting to see what her scandal does for her career.  Sure, many actors and actresses have survived worse scandals, but it seems that K-Stew may have alienated the Twilight fan base that made her a star to begin with.  Regardless of how many independent films she does, every actor needs a franchise to keep the money rolling in.  As for Chris Hemsworth, it’s hard to argue with his star power with THOR, THE AVENGERS and now The Huntsman, he should be able to keep big and steady paychecks coming in for years to come. So what do you think?  Is focusing a Snow White movie on Chris Hemsworth’s Huntsman a good idea, or should they bring back Kristen Stewart as well?
