Chris Hemsworth stars in the new trailer for In the Heart of the Sea
For those of you keeping score at home, IN THE HEART OF THE SEA is the second of three movies Chris Hemsworth has coming in the first half of 2015. Although the Avengers will overshadow everything, I’m intrigued by IN THE HEART OF THE SEA. Everything we’ve seen so far looks promising and it seems like Hemsworth is on top of his game, reuniting with his RUSH director Ron Howard. And of course, Hollywood is going to take the true story, cut out everything negative and make it more stylish, but still, it looks fun. Like Hemsworth’s other film with a high-profile director, BLACKHAT, I’m nervous about the release date. It’s forgoing any hope of an Oscar run and avoiding the summer season, which makes me think there’s something wrong with it. Either way, the trailer looks good. Check it out below.
The official synopsis for IN THE HEART OF THE SEA: In the winter of 1820, the New England whaling ship Essex was assaulted by something no one could believe: a whale of mammoth size and will, and an almost human sense of vengeance. The real-life maritime disaster would inspire Herman Melville’s Moby-Dick. But that told only half the story. “Heart of the Sea” reveals the encounter’s harrowing aftermath, as the ship’s surviving crew is pushed to their limits and forced to do the unthinkable to stay alive. Braving storms, starvation, panic and despair, the men will call into question their deepest beliefs, from the value of their lives to the morality of their trade, as their captain searches for direction on the open sea and his first mate still seeks to bring the great whale down. IN THE HEART OF THE SEA stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Holland, Brendan Gleeson, Michelle Fairley, Charlotte Riley and Jordi Mollà. The Ron Howard directed film opens in theaters on March 15th.
