Chris Pratt lands the lead in Guardians of the Galaxy
After a lengthy search, it seems Marvel Studios has found its lead for GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY in Chris Pratt. Pratt, who steals the show in ‘Parks and Recreation’ and has impressed in dramas like MONEYBALL and more recently, TEN YEARS and ZERO DARK THIRTY, will take on the role of Peter Quill in Marvel’s franchise. Pratt beat out frontrunners Joel Edgerton, Jack Huston (‘Boardwalk Empire’ and the new Guiness Black commercials), Jim Sturgess, Lee Pace, Eddie Redmayne and more recently, Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
I like Chris Pratt, but given the other actors that were in contention, I find it odd that Marvel would go with someone that adds a lot of comedy to every role he takes. He’s a good choice and should do well with the big budget role, which should quickly make him a household name for those that don’t already know him. There’s still a lot of tidbits to come out of this, but for now, it looks like Chris Pratt is Peter Quill. (Deadline)
