Chris Rock and Rosario Dawson star in the first Top Five trailer
I’ve always felt Chris Rock was underrated as a comedian, actor, director and writer. He’s probably best known for his hilarious standup routines, but the guy has a ton of talent and he makes everything he’s in at least a little funny (although that theory was challenged with the GROWN UPS films). His last directorial effort was I THINK I LOVE MY WIFE and although it didn’t go over very well with critics or audiences, I thought it was a poignant, spot-on look into the life of a moderately successful, married man. He’s back with his latest film, TOP FIVE, where he plays a superstar actor and comedian that’s engaged to get married to a reality TV star. The film follows him spending the day with a reporter (Rosario Dawson) who is starting to challenge what he thought he knew.
The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival to mostly rave reviews and if it’s as good as everyone says it is, it might be the first blockbuster film for Chris Rock the director and writer. He’s enlisted the help of all of his friends and is joined in the film by Rosario Dawson, JB Smoove, Gabrielle Union, Tracy Morgan, Cedric the Entertainer, Kevin Hart, Jerry Seinfeld, Adam Sandler, Whoopi Goldberg, Sherri Shepherd, Jay Pharoah, Anders Holm and Michael Che. So the film isn’t light on star-power. TOP FIVE hits theaters on December 12th. Check out the trailer below.
