Christian Bale and Joel Edgerton star in the new Exodus: Gods and Kings trailer

The controversy surrounding Ridley Scott’s EXODUS: GODS AND KINGS is focused on the idea of mostly white stars playing different races. Some find that offensive, others won’t care. But my guess is that whatever the degree of controversy, it will be enough to squash any Oscar hopes the film might have. That’s not to say it doesn’t have a chance, but Ridley Scott would have to really blow us away to get past it and from the trailer, I don’t think he will. However, the film does look like an epic adventure that should be a good time, controversy or not. You just have to get past Joel Edgerton’s eyebrows first. Check out the trailer below.

The official synopsis for EXODUS: GODS AND KINGS: Exodus: Gods and Kings is the story of one man’s daring courage to take on the might of an empire. Using state of the art visual effects and 3D immersion, Scott brings new life to the story of the defiant leader Moses (Christian Bale) as he rises up against the Egyptian Pharaoh Ramses (Joel Edgerton), setting 600,000 slaves on a monumental journey of escape from Egypt and its terrifying cycle of deadly plagues. EXODUS: GODS AND KINGS stars Christian Bale, Joel Edgerton, Aaron Paul, John Turturro, Sigourney Weaver and Ben Kingsley. The Ridley Scott directed film hits theaters on December 12th.
