Christian Bale set to star in Out Of The Furnace for director Scott Cooper; Viggo Mortensen and Robert Duvall wanted as well
When he’s not prancing around the silver screen as the caped crusader in Christopher Nolan’s Batman films, Christian Bale can usually be counted on to do a challenging, smaller character piece. So it’s no surprise that he’s signed on to star in OUT OF THE FURNACE (at one time called THE LOW DWELLER), which will have him starring as Slim, a man recently released from prison that just wants to marry his girlfriend, but gets drawn into a quest for revenge when his brother is murdered. CRAZY HEART director Scott Cooper will be taking on the project and if he has his way, Robert Duvall will be joining the film, as well as Viggo Mortensen as the villain and a slew of actors such as Casey Affleck, Garrett Hedlund, Taylor Kitsch and Channing Tatum for the role of Slim’s brother.
Cooper has been attached to several films since CRAZY HEART was released, but it looks like he’s finally settled down on this one. As for Bale, I imagine he’ll be doing character driven films like this after tackling the summer blockbuster genre.
