Even though I’m still bummed that FOXCATCHER has been moved to 2014 and won’t be hitting the festival circuit, we can be excited that OUT OF THE FURNACE will be taking its place at the AFI Fest. To celebrate, here are four new images from the drama, featuring Christian Bale looking concerned and Woody Harrelson looking tough. I was a fan of Scott Cooper’s CRAZY HEART, so I’m interested to see how he does with his follow-up. OUT OF THE FURNACE will star Christian Bale, Casey Affleck, Woody Harrelson, Forest Whitaker, Willem Dafoe, Sam Shepard and Zoe Saldana. The Scott Cooper directed film hits theaters on December 6th, with a limited release on November 27th.
The OUT OF THE FURNACE official synopsis: Russell (Christian Bale) and his younger brother Rodney (Casey Affleck) live in the economically-depressed Rust Belt, and have always dreamed of escaping and finding better lives. But when a cruel twist of fate lands Russell in prison, his brother is lured into one of the most violent and ruthless crime rings in the Northeast – a mistake that will almost cost him everything. Once released, Russell must choose between his own freedom, or risk it all to seek justice for his brother.
