Christopher Meloni joins Henry Cavill and Amy Adams in Man of Steel

After surprising the world about a month ago when he announced he was leaving TV’s ‘Law and Order: SVU’ after ten seasons, many people thought Christopher Meloni was crazy to give up such a steady gig.  Well, it looks like Meloni had something up his sleeve as he’s signed on for a “major” role in the Superman reboot, MAN OF STEEL.  Of course, “major” could mean a couple of things.  It could be a lot of speaking parts and be an integral part of the entire film, or it could mean that his character is important to the overall story, but doesn’t actually say/do much.  My guess is he’s going to play Clark’s boss at the Daily Planet, Perry White, but that’s just speculation at this point.

This is hot on the heels of news that Julia Ormond would be playing Superman’s biological mother and I’m assuming now we can rest comfortably knowing that all the major roles have been filled.  Christopher Nolan is producing and Zack Snyder is directing the reboot that stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Russell Crowe, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane and Michael Shannon.
